ThinkingChickens
My chickens don't seem to be eating out of the grub. I had another feeder in their run when they were smaller. Now I'm trying to have them use the grub (or the Go version) and they aren't really using it much. Does it take time? Or, will they figure out and I'm just not witnessing it? AndyS
You could try "pecking" at the food with your finger loudly. That should give them the message that it's food, as it's the way they spot that the others have found some food.
HarrisonFamily
My 2 would not eat out of the Go feeder and as I have never had chickens before it took me a few days to realise they were not eating enough...I put food in an old dog bowl and they ate loads,....I have now taken the top off the Go feeder and they are eating from it ...so I am hoping to eventually put the top back on.... Barkisland
I had a similar problem with my new ex bats. I swapped the grub for a glug, because I read that they don't like to put their heads inside something - which makes sense, and the glug is not so enclosed. They seem happier using the glug, and to help them along I sprinkled some mealworms on the top of the crumb . (I also have a hanging feeder on a chain and a large standing drinking fountain, I just put the glug in to give them an extra feeding station). I think they are all eating now, but May doesn't seem to eat much and is worryingly thin
ThinkingChickens
I'm going to go ahead and use the regular chicken feeder I bought because I don't think they were eating. The girls just bit up my hands as I put in the old feeder with food. One of them got me good so they must be starving. I can see how the cube version of the glub and grub might be better but I agree about the Go feeder. It's just too dark in there.
