katieadams Posted April 26, 2011 Share Posted April 26, 2011 Hi I have finally got our noisy lonely boy a hareem to keep him happy - he's far too busy to keep me awake crowing now, it's quite obscene in there!! So now we have two little flocks - one boy with eight girls in the big house, and one boy with 4 girls in the little temporary house. The two houses are facing each other so the flocks can see each other, but other than that, any advice for introducing them all properly? beach chick Posted April 26, 2011 Share Posted April 26, 2011 personally I would keep them as 2 flocks if you can, I'm not sure they would ever merge happily and male quail fight to the death (as I know to my cost... ). Janty Posted May 26, 2011 Share Posted May 26, 2011 I'd keep them separate as well. I have four separate flocks of quail, again through mis-sexing by the breeder. However, one of my old males has recently died so his two girls are about to be merged with a male and a female that I have living in an eglu and run. I will do this exactly as I would with chickens, keeping them next to each other for two to three weeks, then merging them and observing to see if everything goes smoothly.
