nanarock
I have noticed from when I purchased my chickens 6 weeks ago one of them is doing what looks like an occasional blood stained poo. I dont know which one it is but have watched them all poo and only witnessed normal looking ones. should I be concerned. I have just three chickens they all are feeding well and seem healthy. One has not started laying yet, but the other two only started last week so I have assumed she is a late starter. The lady I bought them off wormed them the day I bought them. Should I contact her in case there is some sort of infection in her flock.
Mollie333
Hi, Is it definitely blood? It could be something they've eaten - it does happen. Is there any blood on egg shells? a hen coming into lay can cause small ruptures. Apparently It is normal for hens to shed a bit of the lining of their intestines and stuff in their poo,it's usually a red bit in an healthy poo, no diarrhea or watery poo. It could be coccidiosis, but doesn't sound like it, if she is behaving normally.
Chucky Mama
I would check what she 'wormed' them with.
