Snoxy
Hi I have a couple of questions that I am hoping someone can help me with I heard somewhere that ash can be mixed with earth and/or sand for the girls to dustbathe in...if this is the case...can the ash be from coals used on a bbq?! Sorry if that is a daft question but I just have to ask Question two is...can chopped sterilised straw mixed with fresh chicken doo-doo be put straight onto veg beds? or will it burn? the plants? Thank you lovely knowledgeable people
The Dogmother
No, you can only use wood ash - coal ash is toxic to them. I don't see why not, you coudl use it to line bean trenches.
Snoxy
Thank you Claret Someone contacted me through gumtree after all the chicken manure had been taken recently...she has an allotment and is interested in collecting what I pick every day (one-two carrier bags full)...she is local so I can save it for her and she can collect a large bin liner full of it weekly...seems such a shame to just throw it if she can use it
