Redwing
Shut the door of the coop and block as much light out as possible without blocking all ventilation hopefully she will settle down in the dark Some broodies do attack their chicks but its rare and far less likely in the dark

JillM
Perhaps she's just trying to avoid getting her bottom pecked by the hatchling?
donald
Well she did get back on and I had a peek this morning to see little ducklings! So far so good, she has been very curious about them and they have been outside, she gave them a little peck initially and they looked quite worried but they kept following her and now she has them tucked under her again! So I hope thats it?? I provide food and water and lodgings and they should be ok now? I was worried she was going to kill them but I did find whilst I was there she was worse and as soon as I was away (spying) she got on with it well(human interference)! Thanks for the help
