speedqueen Posted May 5, 2011 Share Posted May 5, 2011 Hi all, just a quick update. After blossom started wheezing as well as losing her feathers we took her pretty sharpish to the vet. When we finally found one who would look at a hen! (cant believe so many vets didnt know anything about them!?!?!) It turns out the feather loss is 'cos she's broody! but she's not sitting in the coop or anything, she's just acting 'normal' anyway, he said the wheezing was 'cos she had a respiritory infection and gave her some antibiotics to clear it up. Being as the water we put it in is 'communal' water it meant that the other 2 girls had a dose too, my hubby not keen on that idea, but i suppose it wont do them any harm. And she is fine and dandy now she seems to have lost a little weight but otherwise is fine. Any suggestions what to give her to boost her up again? any kind of tonic or vitamins? i'm just so relieved. I hear that hens dont 'do' illness very well.
