cluckydip
Hi, Really nice to meet you all and I am really pleased to join the forum. Sorry my first post has to be a question, but we just recieved our Egglu classic and 2 lovely hens (one gingernut and one miss pepperpot) On miss pepperpot I noticed that she has got her middle claw (hard nail) missing and a black dried end to her toe. Am i right in thinking this is nothing serious and that it will eventually grow back? She seems to standing on her other leg with the claw missing one lifted under her body - again is this ok?. I used to keep a parrot and if perched on one leg it indicated good health and ok as bird would perch on one leg - is this the same with a chicken? Any answers most welcome! Kind regards Howard
The Dogmother
I wouldn't worry, she obviously caught it on something and ripped it off. i doubt it will grow back though as they usually tear the nail bed out when they do that.
