speckled hen
Hi There Much to my surprise one of Daisy's eggs is chirping - Im surprised because she has been on and off the eggs and even letting the other girls sit on them, so never thought they would hatch So the problem - Daisy is still in the nest box of the cube sat on 3 eggs. I have moved my Orp cookie and her 2 chicks out of the hutch so that Daisy can be seperated and have tried to move her a few times, including tonight. She will not settle on the eggs and runs about frantic and distressed. As this little chick seems to be about to hatch (can hear tapping and chirping) I have locked the other girls out of the cube and left them in the run Obviously this is far from ideal, what shall I do? I don't want chick ready meals What a pickle
chuckmum6
Try moving her now it is dark, if you can shut her in with the eggs, she should settle better when it is dark. Good luck!
speckled hen
Ok, will go out now and give it a try. Hope the neighbours don't spot me in my pj's moving a chicken
speckled hen
Thank you very much - mission complete So now the wait begins, the egg chirped again when my dh moved it, how long do you think it will take now?
sjp
I had eggs take nearly 30 hours to hatch and as quick as 2 or 3 hours from cheeping/pipping that was in the incubator
