brambles
My lovely girl is looking after her chicks well, they're 2 1/2 weeks old. Obviously she's lost some condition and seems lighter, but I've no doubt she'll regain weight once they've grown more. However, she's also now losing loads of feathers, a bit like a stress moult. Is this usual? She won't eat anything unless she can feed some to the chicks so the tasty tidbits I've offered her are not a good strategy. Equally, she'll only drink from the chicks water, so I don't want to put tonic in it. Shall I just leave be and pep up and tonic later or do I need to do something now? They're all currently on medicated chick crumb and I have growers pellets in to start putting in after week 4.
Redwing
She will need extra protein which the chick crumb and growers pellets will give her anyway so I wouldnt worry about extras I'd start the growers pellets from 6 weeks personally
