Ammonia smell in coop-first time owner

I decided to cut back the growth on one of the pots of Russian Comfrey that I have. I took a few 'snaps' of it's demise.

 

This is before this "Ooops, word censored!"le plant was sacrificed.......Note the girls eyeing it up.

haha!! locusts my herb garden and practically gone. I am looking at getting something similar to this

 

To put at the back of the drive no chicken access as i miss my herbs

We have some plants that grow prolifically in one area of our garden (can't remember the name ) so I moved some to another area that is short of cover. I have tried twice now and each time they eat it WHY!!!! there is plenty there 50 yards away and they never even look at it, why wait until I've moved it

This is the second one they've nuked. One left, I think it would be wise to wait until I see signs of regeneration on the 'pruned' ones.
