Best liner/ bedding for drop tray

Hello everyone

Another daft question in my very very long quest to keep chickens hopefully this year! I am considering my garden space and only have enough room for a standard run Go. Therefore I can been recommended hybrids by a few people but would only be able to keep two due to the run size. I thought I would prefer three just in case one goes to chook heaven. So, I thought about bantams so I could have my three. I was told that its hard to get bantams that have been already vaccinated is this true? Im just outside Nottingham so on the lookout for somewhere local to the Midlands really.

 

Lets hope one day I can post on here that I have my hens!!!!

Most small scale breeders of pure bred poultry do not vaccinate. Some dont vaccinate because the bottles are in 1000's of doses in many cases, others dont because they believe in naturally resistant flocks

 

Some breeds are more prone to some conditions for example Sebrights and Silkies can be prone to Mareks disease

 

As long as your breeder can reassure you as to the vaccination status or careful selection of their flocks then that should be fine

 

You'll struggle to find vaccinated pure breeds but dont let it put you off
