Green Tea
I know I shouldn't count my chickens ..... but ...... this morning when I lifted Gretel off the nest to make sure she did her 'business' I dinstinctly heard cheeping!! Even more exciting I just lifted her very gently and took a peek at the eggs and one has a small hole in it It would be so lovely if she gets even just one chick after all her patience and dedication so I'm keeping my fingers crossed
Jools
It's such a thrill isn't it! I admit to holding eggs to my ear for a few seconds (while mum is on a comfort break) because you can hear them scratching and then cheeping before they finally pip. It means I can count my chicks before they hatch! I love your blog btw and your chooks are just beautiful
Green Tea
Thanks Jools One has hatched so far .... blogged here .... http://greenteaandhens.blogspot.com/2011/05/chicken-has-landed.html !! I'm thinking it's probably a Millefleur as it's so dark(?) - it was a mixed batch of Lavender and Millefleur. No sign of much from the other five eggs yet but I'm just so happy to get one! I hope you're ready to waste an awful lot of time in the next few weeks ...... You are so right Jools! I'm supposed to be going away tomorrow for the night and preparing the house for my eldest to have a party ( ) while we're gone. I haven't done anything yet - just keep thinking of excuses to go out in the garden/shed
