chris spray
In a bit of a quandry. Have sited my beehaus in my "little wood" - under 3 oak trees. Reading the manual says avoid this...... anyone know why?
Olly
I don't know what the beehaus manual says, but general advice is not to put hives in a place where trees will drip on them, or where they will be too damp or shady. My hive is in a corner between a hedge and a 10' wall and underneath a birch tree ... my bees don't seem to mind, and I've got a good crop of honey on this year. If the site is good in other respects, e.g. access, security and so on, I wouldn't worry too much. There's no such thing as a perfect site, if it turns out not to be good then you can move them later as long as you do it in small stages.
