chuckmum6
I have 3 chicks now 5.5wks, Dad is a pencilled laced Wyandotte mums are a Partridge Pekin (at total suprize), Silver laced Dottie and a Pencilled laced Dottie (I think)! What do you think they are? I think 2 boys and a girl or all boys No 1 : No 2 : No 3 : This one got it's feathers first and has a longer tail - but smaller wattle? Redwing
A guess as with crossbreeds the feather colour tells you nothing: Pullet Cockerel Could be either
chuckmum6
A guess as with crossbreeds the feather colour tells you nothing: Pullet Cockerel Could be either The bottom one should be a pure pencilled laced, this is a picture of it a few days earlier, I'm not sure at all, as I was really confident I knew which hens laid the eggs - all Wyandotte's then I got fluffy feet it must have been a really big egg for my Pekin! Thank you Redwing
chuckmum6
I agree, I had a really good look at the chicks when they went to bed, and I am pretty certain I have : Silver laced x Pencilled laced hen, Pencilled laced hen and a partridge Peking x Wyandotte cockerel. I have another Pekin x Wyandotte chick with it Pekin mum which is 6 days old, fingers crossed it is a girl! I have a swap lined with a person at work who has chickens, so will be exchanging a my pencilled for a Legbar hen and possibly my pencilled cockerel (the dad) for a lavender Pekin hen so new stock as well as my home grown crosses. chuckmum6
No help but they are all lovely I think they are at the gawky pre teen stage, long legs and feathers sticking out all over the place!
JillM
I gather that males have pointier ends to their feathers than the females, but is this true right from fledging?
