Duncan08
I know most chicken keepers have problems keeping their girls off the garden and not wrecking the place. But, I have just ordered some netting and am going to set my girls to work this summer. I have been doing some landscaping, digging out for paved areas and creating semi raised flower beds from the soil and grass sods. I didn't want to hire a skip so I now have a huge bed of pretty awful quality soil, totally unsuitable for planting unless I spend a fortune on compost. The girls job will be to scratch about and poo all over it for the summer. Lots of pooing will give the soil some nutrients, their scratching will breakdown the heavy clay and add some air, and they will be able to keep the whole area clear of weeds and grass that I will inevitably have missed when sorting it out. I'm pretty sure they will rise to the challenge with vigour!!!
Bramble
Excellent idea, I'm sure your girls will be happy to assist (do chickens qualify for minimum wage )!
Duncan08
I was thinking along the lines of an extra ration of yogurt and oats, with a sprinkling of grapes and mealworms. All their favourites
