I went away for a few days at weekend and my daughter was cat/house/chicken sitting. She sent me a text saying we had a BIIIIIG egg..i just thought it was the normal thing-out of every few eggs we get one that would be on the way to 'extra large' if we bought it at the supermarket. When we got home and saw it, it was huge-I was very sad and weighed it-my others average about 60-65g and this one was 100g! No idea which of the girls had it-but they all laid again the next day!

Anyway..we had it with tea tonight and its a double yolker! Is this likely to happen again or are they just one offs?

Thanks

Lucky you!!

I can tell who lays what with my girls, and I have 2 which lay double yolkers. Not very often but we've had about 4 from each of them over the space of 6 months, so I'd say you'll have another one soon ;)

I don't know if thats how it works or just coincidence

They all lay a browny egg, but all different shades. And they all started laying with like 2 weeks between them, so you could tell who started to use the nest box and went redder so I can tell who lays what now... I think I'm just a bit sad really  Oh and the two darker ones - whiteys has little white specks on :D
