stoice
Knew it would go pear-shaped. Just been on a lovely P&O Cruise to Bruges from Southampton over the the weekend. It was for a friends Hen do. When you book in you have to assign your credit card, you are then given a barcoded key card that has your room number on it and you hand that in everytime you want to make a purchase on board and sign for each item as if it's a credit card. You then settle up when you leave. Well I booked in, assigned my card and was told the other lady who'd I'd be sharing a room with 'N' hadn't booked in yet. When we all meet up on board 'N' says she'd like to change room to be with her daughter. She also then says as she had no card she had to 'go in' on my card. So off we pop to reception to sort it (As i don't want to be paying for someone I've never met!) Anyway, they take her off my card and put her on her daughters, 'N' then pre-pays some of her daughters card with cash. The staff said as we are all together with several cabins in a row there was no point changing the keycard info so I'd stay E154-2 and she'd still be E154-1 even though she's staying in E158. Apparently the bill goes to each card not just the whole room so the hyphen part of each person's number showed a separate account. Fine. So we were assured 'N' is no longer on my account, but on her daughters. So I've just checked my bill. I kept every receipt and my drinks bill is only £28 (It wasn't a 'heavy' hen do and meals were included!) yet I've been charged an extra 40 odd quid! I've just checked my credit card through my bank and now there's another charge for £38! My £28 bill is now over £100!!!!!!! Hopefully this will sort itself out but money issues always make me worry. I'm feeling sick just thinking about it. It ruins a really lovely weekend. Why does stuff like this always happen to me?
meezers
I don't blame you for being upset. That's the sort of thing that happens to me Seems an odd sort of system that allows a stranger to use your credit card just because they are staying in the same cabin - are you sure they got that right ? think I'd be querying that. Hope it gets sorted to your satisfaction.

What happened when you went to settle up? did they give you a bill with just your £28 on? that would be your proof that there has been an error
stoice
Everything was charged to everyone's account at 3.30am (?) If you settled up before with cash or something that was fine, if not it would all automatically charge to your cards. I looked over my bill and didn't notice anything wrong at first. (My bad) It's only once home and was going to shred some bits i noticed an individual 'item' charge of £40.89. One of the girls - 'N's daughter in fact had that amount on her bill so she's checking this afternoon at her bank to see if they've taken it. If they have then they've charged twice and hoped we wouldn't notice! I was actually pretty miffed they let 'N' join in on my card considering I'd never met her. She wasn't an axe murderer criminal mastermind or anything but that's not the point! LOL I'm going to bring that up when P&O phone me back with an explanation and hopefully a refund.
