bluebear100
Hi I have 3 silkies, recently one got poorly with an nasty infection, she has been to the vets for antibiotic injections and now seems to be getting better but one of my other hens keeps attacking her, she wouldn't let her out of the coop this morning (they got on fine before), I've kept them apart but its not ideal does anyone have any advice on how to stop her attacking. Thanks
Redwing
hens can be particularly nasty if they sense that another isnt up to full health I'd keep the poorly one separate until she is completely well (always good in cases of anything infectious anyway) Then separate out the worst offender and reintroduce the recovered hen to the other one Then after a few days reintroduce the bully but be prepared to do this gradually
bluebear100
Many thanks, that's reassuring, I had kept Elmo separate while she was unwell, today (the second day she was feeling a bit better) I left her in the run with Chickie but separated out Do (the bully) into the enclosed garden so it seems I'm doing the right thing....fingers crossed!
