fujcube
Hi all, I currently have 18 Welsummer eggs under 2 broody hens, 9 each under my Orpington and Maran. I also have another 6 in the incubator along with 6 White Call Duck eggs. Rather than waste time with clear eggs, I have decided to invest in an Egg Candler and would like to hear your recommendations before I buy. As the Welsummer eggs are fairly dark, the candler would have to be up to the job with the dark shells. Regards
laurmurf
i wouldn't worry about a 'proper' candler, just a really strong LED / maglite torch. You won't get anything strong enough to get through welsummer or marans dark shells in any case, you'll just have to keep your fingers crossed! Tweety
I used a Brinsea Ova-view, and would recommend it.
fujcube
Thanks for the replies. Have ordered one of those mains powered high intensity candlers from the incubator shop.
