chicken novice
Hi, I am new to all this and still in the planning stages (lots of reading still to do!) I am considering getting three ex-batts and housing them in an eglu cube. I have persuaded my son that it's 'doing the right thing' to take on the ex-batts and he's doing a good show of being satisfied with that, but I know really he craves a white or black chicken and one that will 'look like a chicken' from the off. My ideal situation would be to get the ex-batts and an 'ordinary' chicken (thinking white sussex or black Australorp) as a surprise extra to reward him for all the care he'll be giving to the ex-batts. Does anyone have any idea about how ex-batts intergrate? Would it be better to buy them all on the same day or have one or the other first? Or should I ditch the plan and just stick to the ex-batts? The ex-batts will be available at the end of July (just in time for the school hols and lots of TLC) Any input appreciated. Many thanks.
