Early Moult or de-plumage mite?

Recommended Posts

Gabby my Welsummer has a bald patch at the front of her neck, some tail feathers missing and generally looks tatty. I have treated all of the girls for NFM with Ivermectin and Johnson's anti-mite spray recently, which I think have now gone. A few of the other girls have some feathers missing around the end of their backs, but I put this down to cockerel damage. I can't see anything on her, could it be any early moult or how can I tell if it is the de-plumage mite?

Should I spray her neck area with the Johnson's? Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks for your reassurance and it helps to know that others of you have chooks in moult. It does seem early though. I now find that some of the other girls have feathers missing and wonder how I could tell if it is the de-plumage mite as apparently they are barely visible, and difficult to get rid of, Ivermectin doesn't seem to work I have read?I
