MiseryBusiness
ON Tuesday, I decided to order a Quail Eglu. I was slightly sceptical because there were no reviews about it. But in the end, I ordered an Orange Quail Eglu to house 4 that we already have. Here's the story: About 3 weeks ago, I came home to find that one of my white Quail ,Mary, had lots of blood all down her body all coming from the eye and most of her head feathers pecked off. The other white Quail, Nacho, was cowering in the corner, because it was also being picked on (we're not sure why those 2, but it happened) so, we took out Mary, and moved her into a pet carrier in the garage and then we sectioned off the top part of the Quail hutch and moved Nacho up there. The one who was doing all the attacking, Amy, was also sectioned off upstairs. So it was like this, Mary in the garage, Nacho in one half upstairs, Amy in the other section upstairs, and the 3 innocent ones, Rory, The Doctor and Peanut, down below. We ran a course of liquid anti-biotics on Mary and got her cleaned up and after a week she was back to her normal self. After a week we decided to move Amy back down with the others because she wasn't attacked any of them, and we moved Mary in with Nacho upstairs. When Amy came downstairs, The Doctor went straight over to show his dominance by mating with her, and giving a few pecks. Amy settles in fine with the other ladies and nothing has happened since. As soon as Mary was moved upstairs, Nacho came running over and started cheaping and jumping with joy. Mary seemed a bit startled but settled in fine. Those 2 snuggled straight together and they went to bed early, as did the 4 downstairs. (By the way, this was all when Mary and Amy were 9 weeks old and the others were 5 weeks) Since then, we've had a slight dilemma of them growing up. Especially Amy, who seems to be larger than everyone else. The 2 upstairs are fine with space, but there isn't much room for the 4 downstairs. Thanks for reading and I will be posting pictures when the weather starts to brighten up. ;D
