leedg
Hiya, was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. I currently have a walk in run thats 18foot long x 10foot wide (so 180ft2). I was just wondering how many hybrid size chickens this can comfortably hold without being overcrowded (bearing in mind my chickens only get to free range out of the run for a short time at the weekends) many thanks
Redwing
Very very general idea is 1 square metre per chook Hybrids can be prone to more behavioural problems than pure breeds though I think that the run would hold as many chooks as would be comfortable in there, not a good answer I know If you already have chooks separate off a bit of run and introduce a few, let things settle down and see if you think a few more would be happy in the area - more complicated dealing with intros but better than packing them in and regretting it later If you are starting from scratch then maybe start with up to ten or so
