Castleview
I've 3 hens. 1 hasn't laid for 10 weeks, 1 has laid skins onlyfor 4 weeks and the other lays dailly. They all look healthy enough bar a bald patch on their chest which I'm assuming might be moulting? They are just a year old. No sign of anything in their coop. Plenty range for them. Food must be ok if 1 laying. Any ideas what's wrong?
Ain't Nobody Here
Have they been wormed recently? Are they mainly eating layers pellets? If you're giving them corn or other treats, perhaps cut them out completely for a while.
Castleview
I've never wormed any of them because I couldn't see anything in their poo. Am I a bad mother hen?!? I give them layers meal which supposedly has enough grit in it and give them occasional boiled up veg and have from time to time given them sultanas. Ain't Nobody Here
I've never wormed any of them because I couldn't see anything in their poo. Am I a bad mother hen?!? No, not at all . I think you often only see the worms as they're expelled after worming so it might be a good idea to worm them anyway. Flubenvet is generally considered the best wormer. If you're only giving occasional treats, it shouldn't be that causing the non-laying. Sadly, sometimes a hen just won't lay . I have 2 who haven't laid for ages and are less than 3 years old .
