Sue Thomson
Whilst cleaning my coup this morning I noticed that one of my chickens (Snowdrop) had yolk and blood in her poop. She has finished been broody and has been laying normal eggs for the last couple of days .... she is eating and drinking okay today ... I'm presuming it's an egg that hasn't worked properly ... does anyone think it's something more serious .... hope not .... Thanks Sue
Green Tea
I would get a vet to look at her. I missed a broken egg inside my pekin last week and she got blood poisoning and had to be pts. Don't want to alarm you but might be best to be cautious.
Sue Thomson
Hi, Thanks for your reply - checked coop this morning and there is just normal poop - she seems happy and eating and drinking ..... it would be good if she lays an egg today though - I guess that would help flush anything else out (Silkie chicken so might not) ... should I wait until she does lay one ... if she is pooping normally would that flush stuff out as well (only had chickens 4 months or so quite new to all the little problems they have). Very grateful for all advise. Sue
Green Tea
Hi Mine was pooing quite normally, as far as I could tell. Hopefully she has already passed the rest of the egg and maybe eaten it..... but I would keep a very close eye on her, if she starts looking even slightly poorly I'd get a vet to look. Sue Thomson
Hi, At lunchtime today Snowdrop laid an egg (bit of a funny shape) so I'm hoping that she is back to normal now - will still keep a very close eye on her but fingers crossed. Thanks again for your help and support. Sue
