Mercedes55 Posted July 28, 2011 Share Posted July 28, 2011 Was just checking the hens a little while ago and noticed a dark mark on the side of our White Leghorn. On closer inspection it looks like a dark scab with some bruising around it. The other hen we bought at the same time had been pulling feathers out of her a few days ago so we had put her in with the other girls, but had not noticed this. I've put some Arnica on the wound because of the bruising, but not sure if we should be concerned. At night they all sleep in the Cube, now I'm worried about putting the new girls in with the older ones at night and could do with a bit of advice please. Redwing Posted July 28, 2011 Share Posted July 28, 2011 It should heal up pretty quickly Take a close look in case there is anything in the wound but if not just leave the scab as it is If there is any sign of blood then remove the hen for her own safety or use purple spray (bought in horse tack shops/some pet shops) or blue food colouring to hide the blood Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
