Chucky Mama
I spend a good deal of my holiday in Portugal watching the ant I found them really fascincating and whilst others were frantically trying to kill them, I was leaving tasty morsels out for them Does anyone have an ant farm or can anyone recommend a good place to get one. I know they have little ones for children in places like Hawkins Bazaar but I fancy something bigger.better.
Ain't Nobody Here
We had an illuminated Antworks antfarm for YS a few years ago. They have them on Amazon but the reviews are pretty dire. We found ours OK, the ants certainly tunnelled and they were fascinating to watch. I seem to remember catching ants to put in it (can't remember why, perhaps we didn't get ants with the farm?) and it was a nightmare, as soon as you got one in, the others would escape or you'd squish them with the lid . I think later on we did buy some ants but it's an additional outlay. The problem in the end was that some ants died and basically festered and mouldered in the tunnels - not a nice sight - and as you can't do anything with the gel apart from removing it all and starting again (if that's even possible!) you just have to leave it as it is with mouldy dead ants in it! Chucky Mama
Oh dear, that sounds pretty horrible. I wonder what these are like on This Website There are lots that seem to use sand. I wouldn't want anything that would hurt the ants I might email one of the Zoos to see if they can help
