ronnieroo
Patsy, ex-battery, mother of 3 8 week chicks. I saw her yesterday gobble down a long shoelace, it must have been at least8 inches long. At first I thought was a worm but then realised what it was. I'm really worried as obviously she won't be able to digest this. Any ideas, obviously a vet trip if she becomes poorly, but this is likely to cost a fortune if they need to operate. Help much appreciated. Ain't Nobody Here
Oh dear . Don't despair though, I'm sure I've read of hens eating all manner of strange things and they often come out the other end intact. I'd keep a close eye on her and if you don't find the shoelace, the vet might be the only option .
ronnieroo
Thanks for the reply - I'll keep an eye on her - why do these things always happen at the weekend when emergency vet the only option
Chucky Mama
Have a gentle feel of her crop in the mornings when it should be empty and see if you can feel it. If you can feel it over a few days and see if it goes.
