Henergy
I feel really bad that its taken me a few days to notice but today I pulled out my cube trays to empty the poo and found 2 softies lying there. One quite small & the other larger. She must have laid & they've dropped through the bars. Bless her. Is there anything I can do to help her ? There is mixed grit available and I often pop a handful in the feed too. She has Omlet Organic Layers feed, corn at evening. Plenty of access to grass. I have just given her a handful of my spinach ...any thing else I can do ?
Olly
If these are her first eggs, I wouldn't worry too much - it can take them a little while to get in the swing of things. If your other hens are laying hard shells on the same diet, she'll probably be ok too.
squiffs
I would also add that my wasn't laying very well recently (1 a week, if that)- and since we changed from omlet organic feed to marriage's layers pellets we've had one nearly every day!I know marriage's make the organic feed too but I guess there is a marked difference for our chooks between a good quality pellet and the crumby stuff we got from omlet.
