TutuTallulah
I have previously had a Tefal Actifry machine for a couple of years and loved it. However, after just over a year the clips on the lid broke and a replacement was £25 plus delivery. So i got round it by putting a 2 lb weight from my old fashioned scales on top to keep it shut. A couple of weeks ago it died a death when it blew up ( blue flash and nasty melted plastic smell ) A new Actifry is now around £200 which I really begrudge when it had quite a short life. Amazon have the new Philips Airfryer for £128 at the moment which seems similar to the Actifry and I also like that the food isnt continually stirred so wont break up. Anyone got one? Opinions greatly valued!

TutuTallulah
Wow! Thanks Cinnamon! At that price I think it's quite a bargain - a similar price to what I originally paid. However OH says that anything that is potentially useless within 2 years is NOT a bargain... Will hang on and see if anyone has an opinion on the Airfryer before I rush out and replace. squiffs
My Nana's deep fat fryer has broken and she misses making homemade chips, so we were considering buying her one of these - the price was a bit shocking, and now you've mentioned it goes kaput very quickly, I will be doing more research on an Airfryer instead! abwsco
I'd contact Tefal about it as you'd expect it to last longer than two years.
