counturchickens
Hi, we have some egg eating going one. Daisy started it after sampling a softie, now Ainsley and Dora are joining in. We've tried the mustard and false eggs, but not getting anywhere. Has anyone found a roll away nest box that fits the cube? I have seen some 'stand alone' ones, but I imagine they would just go and lay in the cube anyway. Has anyone any suggestions?
JS1
Somebody - possibly Egluntyne (sorry, can't remember) recently got the standalone rollaway nesting boxes which she put under the Cube and replaced the nesting box in the Cube with more roosting bars to foil any would-be Cube layers. She said it solved the egg eating virtually overnight, if I remember rightly. (nips away to google) Yes! counturchickens
Thanks found the thread after posting , but also saw another suggestion so have made my own with some spare old wooden roosting bars in one half of the nesting box, tested with an egg and everything! Just done it tonight, there will be mayhem as Dora prefers to sleep in there! I will let you know how I get on.
