poppy ben grace
Hi all, my pekin Lucy( Who we got in april this year) hasnt laid since the summer after she had an impacted crop which she fully recovered from. Every so often she goes to the nest box as if to lay but doesnt actually lay anything. She has been in fine health until today . When i cleaned the droppings tray out i found what looked like egg yolk but no shell. It can only be hers as Bertha is fine and laying as normal. She has no discharge but is very lethargic and her breathing seems laboured. I have made an appointment with the chicken vet later today but am very worried and wondered if any of you good people had any ideas. Could it be peritonitis? Thanks for reading. Chucky Mama
I'd be surprised if it was peritonitis. She may well have another soft shelled egg on the way which will make her feel pretty rough. She may well be prone to it in the future though.
