pavo121
Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself. I have had chickens for a year now in a wooden coop with the built in run, you know the kind of thing! But the last couple of months have been a nightmare with red mite! Also I was getting more and more concerned about the run space. So last week my new cube arrived with a 3m run! Was very impressed how easy it was to put together with clear instructions, it did take a bit of time though! The girls (3 warrens) moved into their new home on Saturday afternoon, they are happy and so am I!!! Just a couple of newbie questions in regards to the cube/omlet products. 1 The Glug and Grube , I assume they are waterproof?? The end of the run where they are isn't covered. 2 If I want to get a few more chickens to go with my existing three could I get get another say 2 to make five comfortably in the run? They won't free range an awful lot not. I was thinking 4/5 should be fine in that set up. I look forward to talking more! Richard
Tweety
Hi Richard, and welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear about your red mite problem, but you have made a good choice in the Cube and your chooks will be very happy! The Grub and Glug are waterproof, but I cover the end of the run where they are so that the hens don't have to stand in the rain when they are eating or drinking. If your girls won't be free ranging, I think 5 would be pushing it in the 3 metre run. I had 4 in that size run and they were fine, but they did free range most of the day. I would stick to 3 for now, and if you want to get a couple more - and it is always better to introduce more than one at a time - perhaps think of extending the run. Enjoy your Cube and hens
