Patricia W Posted November 15, 2011 Share Posted November 15, 2011 Yesterday I received an email from the Brackley BHWT rescue co-ordinator, Anna, alerting me to the fact that as the new laws are coming in for the enriched cages, all those hens that are currently in the old style cages must be out of the cages by the end of the year, therefore, sadly this will mean that there a lot of hens going to slaughter in December. I've signed up for 3 which is a drop in the ocean, so I thought I'd ask Omleteers if any of you have the room for more hens and are able to keep them separated from you existing hens for a few weeks to give the hens chance to regain strength. I'm sure this is going to be the same across the country so please contact your local BHWT or if you are near Brackley, pm me and I'll send you the numbers for Anna. They also have some lovely ex-batt boys who need homes! Unfortunately, my Phillip won't allow another cockerel any where near his girls so I can't help with these!
