Clairey
Today I did some digging in the garden and as always the hens were all wanting to scratch in the dirt. I noticed that one of them who is not laying at the moment would pull worms out of the dirt but not eat them. I was REALLY surprised!! The 'bottom of the peck' hen manage to get all the worms! I was wondering if it can be a sign that a hen is not well or maybe they just don't feel like proteins when they're not laying (the one hen who ate all the worms is laying at the moment)? Does anyone know about this?? Thanks
Wolfie
One of my ex-batts will not eat live mealworms, but happily snacks on cooked rice or tinned sweetcorn. I have no idea why she doesn't bolt them down as the other chooks do - vegetarian chicken?
Clairey
Yes although she's always loved worms before so that's why I don't understand!! Anyway - no big deal, just wondered if anyone else out there had had the same experience Thanks for the reply
