Sarahchick
I wonder whether anyone could shed any light on why one of my girls has stopped laying. I have had one pepper pot and one gingernut since sept last year when both were at point of lay. They have both layed every day pretty much ever since, even through temps of -10 the other week! I feed them on omlet layers feed and they have a treat of a few mealworms twice a day as well as free ranging most of the day. Big Suze (the gingernut) is still laying but Dobbie hasn't now for 4 days. She seems fine in every other way and there hasn't been any changes in their routine etc. I have searched for eggs in the garden to no avail and she has never laid outside before. Could it be the beginning of a moult? I thought that happened in autumn? Neve had hens before and can't help being worried about her. Any ideas anyone?? Ain't Nobody Here
Welcome to the forum . It could just be a blip. Sometimes if they get a fright or a change of routine that can unsettle them. Her abdomen doesn't feel odd, does it? Moults can happen any time so keep an eye open for stray feathers although I don't think that necessarily affects laying. I'd give it a few more days .
