I have a Faverolle and she is about 20 months old. I had some eggs last year but she has stopped laying. Also have a Buff Orpington and not had eggs from her yet bought her at POL about 5 months ago. Is there hens that never lay??????

It's very rare to get a hen that doesn't lay at all, although it's not unknown.

I would not have thought the Faverolle was past laying at 20 months. If you bought the Buff Orpington in the autumn - and bear in mind that 'POL' is not an exact term - then she may just not have started yet - is her comb red, and does she squat when you approach her?

 

Have they been wormed recently? Are you feeding a lot of treats - I'd restrict their diet to layers pellets only for a week or so, if you are, and see if that makes a difference.

Hi thanks for the reply. The Buff Orpington does not squat but her comb is red that's what made we wonder. I will restrict treats and see how that goes. Great Forum. I am so pleased to take delivery of my Cube today, will brighten up that part of the veggie plot.
