sadietoo
A client forwarded us a very convincing e-mail purporting to be from HMRC...it even links to the HMRC website if you click on "home"..but beware....it's a fraud and there are some tell tale signs... There is no padlock sign on the page you are asked to enter your details on It asks for your debit/credit card details "to make the refund"...this is utter rubbish..the Revenue will repay by payable order to you, unless you enter the details of an account which you want the refund made to on your tax return form...they do not need your security code from the back of your credit card/debit card for this.. It says "short code" instead of "sort code" It says "expiration date" instead of "expiry date" But the main thing to remember with any of these e-mails is that HM Revenue and Customs for all their faults have (thankfully) not embraced electronic mailing...they don't correspond with accountants by e-mail and they certainly don't correspond with taxpayers by e-mail. If you have one of these ...just delete it..
