Old Speckled Hen
Everybody enjoying this rain in the middle of a hosepipe ban? Crazy weather. It's set to continue through May just in time for the June Gap Who's feeding? I've got syrup on one and will be quickly today putting in a frame of food into the other. Anybody here crop OSR? Not much chance in many places I suspect. Happy days to come. Good job beekeepers are eternal optimists
Olly
Yup, will be feeding this weekend - so few opportunities to fly, and the colony is still at post-winter size, it should have doubled by now. Very disappointing, I just hope I can keep them going till the weather picks up.
Chicken Licken
Yep - feeding the weaker colony who are taking in the syrup. I'll have to heft the supers on the other colony - they had expanded and also had loads of stores, and were foraging like mad- but the weather has been so pants over the last week that they could have gone through the stores rapidly. Lesley
Yes, we have feed on ours as well - I'm fed up with paddling in this drought! We are surrounded by fields of rape and our own small orchards and hedge boundaries are full of trees in blossom.....very disappointing that the bees are not able to fly and make use of it
