Chicks first night out

Recommended Posts

Please can someone advise me, I have 8, 7 week old chicks 6 bantams 2 hybrids. I have gradually weaned them off the lamp and they have spent time in the shed and finally tonight their new hen house. They all had to be put in as they didnt have a clue and I have given them a thick layer of wood shavings but have decided to block the nest boxes off as I don't want them to get into the habit of pooing in there.

Have I done the right thing?

Also at what age should I worm them?

they are currently on a mix of chick crumb and growers pellets and occasionally have multi vitamins added to their water.

Do I put cider vinegar or garlic into their water now?

Thanks in advance

yes they should be fine in the coop, do shut the pop hole while they are still young though

Worming - they in theory could be done now but I usually worm for the first time around 18 weeks ish

ACV can go in their water now but its worth waiting a couple of weeks as they are new to being in a coop and its not too good to be making lots of changes at once
