tdf010604
We have a 6 year old border collie, who in typical style is a bit neurotic. When we brought our girls home, she was a bit curious and excited, but we have noticed now that she seems to be obsessed with 1 in particular and kind of stalks her around the outside of the run. The other hens can come & go in the run, but it's the brown one that really gets her going and is the sole focus of her attention. Has anyone else had this problem? I would have liked to free range them completely in the future, but won't risk it while she is like this, she is generally such a sweet natured and gentle dog it is out of character for her. I know it's not a chicken query, but was hoping someone may understand and be able to help. Thanks x
jackian
I think it is a chicken querry .. I am sorry I can't help as I have no dogs but I have read on here of people keeping dogs away as they are preditors and the chickens are game.but I am sure that someone will be along in a while with some knowledge.... Duncan08
Our boxer follows our bluebell around the outside of the run, not taking too much notice of the others. Bluebell is the bottom of the pecking order, maybe he picks up that she might be the easier target? He isn't a nasty dog but big bouncy and very boisterous. They don't play out together Duncan has a fenced off area that he is confined to if the girls are out and they have their WIR and outdoor play area. Funnily enough Duncan could easily break down the omlet netting that covers the outdoor area but he never tries to. It depends entirely on your dog, but obedience and good training will be more important than a placid nature to overcome their natural instincts.
