mimi5 Posted May 14, 2012 Share Posted May 14, 2012 Well we are on day 23 here and after 2 hatching during sat, then nothing......until today! I went off to work this morning, just mum and cheepy 1 & 2! got home and there's 3 more!!! One is and auracana, which I'm delighted about! The others bar one are all from my girls and Monty. Just 1 auracana egg left and as mummy shows no signs of leaving it I'm hopeful for that one too!! (All these babies I wasn't at all sure would hatch as they had been poo coated 3 times!!!!) Isabel Posted May 14, 2012 Share Posted May 14, 2012 Oh wow!!! Congratulations and well done on being so patient. Gosh, what a surprise you must have had this evening. No more action here and also day 23. When I candled I thought 5 were viable and 5 have hatched so far with 2 dying. If it's not raining in an hour or so, I'm going to go and candle them and remove any obvious empties - and I honestly think that will be the remainder of the eggs. I know, I know, all you seasoned hatchers will have heads in hands in despair!! Mummy Hen keeps poo'ing in the nest which is lovely .... not! Isabel Posted May 14, 2012 Share Posted May 14, 2012 Bummer! I've taken one out but will remove the others tomorrow or Wednesday. Of the rest, two show signs of life but look like they stopped a while ago and they feel light. Two of the Marans are too dark-shelled to see so they can have another 24/48 hrs!
