craftyhunnypie
Hi fellow quilters, I need your help. This may sound a really thick question - but I'll ask anyway. I've made my quilt top & now want to create ' the sandwich' of wadding & backing fabric. However my quilt top is larger than the wadding. Is there a special way of joining wadding together, or must I buy new wadding that will be big enough for a good sized quilt. I mean how do you go on if you are making a king sized quilt? There must be an Omleteer's quilting secret ? Please help! Ta very much, Emma.x
Plum
Oh no don't go getting more bodge another bit on. Just butt them together and either machine with a stretchy stitch or easiest is to hand with big herringbone type stitch. If the sides are wavy then lie overlap and cut through with your rotary cutter first. If I'm doing little quilts I don't bother stitching them together and Emma you only make one king size quilt First was enormous but nothing bigger than lap size for me now What have you made? I've been away a week and was expecting lots of news and makes when I came back
craftyhunnypie
Ahh well I'll put some piccys up later tonight. It will be late as got quite a bit to do today. This is only a square quilt, picnic sort of size - but the wadding needs bodgeing. I made it from a mixture of batiks & spotty fabrics - I put together 2 charm packs! (cheat). It's very bright & whacky! I call it my dippy hippy quilt. Not used my rotary cutter yet - next quilt. Although I do want a book on rotary cutter makes & ideas. My fabric stash is increasing nicely. Oh & I can now understand Christian's obsession with ribbon! Fabulous aren't they? Emma.x
Plum
Oh yes they are, you get as many themes and feelings for them as you do with fabric. I've got a charm pack of monkey fabric to make up as a baby quilt so I'm just off to Sheffield to get something to go with it and get my machine serviced and fixed. Hope the engineer can turn of the thread break warning or fix it. Look forward to seeing your jazzy picnic quilt
craftyhunnypie
Ahhh nooo! I would have loved to have gone to Sheffield fabric shopping! Bit of a journey like! Ha ha! Enjoy your fabric shop! Emma.x
Plum
Better come to Malvern on friday then Struggled to find a fabric to go with the pack so bought white. I'm going to have a go at your disappearing nine patch pattern. I did find a nice batik in green brown and bright orange that has markings that will be great for making chickens

Plum
Oh good. I thought it would help me try new things all the little quilts that are shown. Others said before they'd join in. You could organise it.
craftyhunnypie
Ooo now there's a thought. Just say a 6x4" photo sized quilt. That would be sweet. Emma.x
