T Dan
I have nine Pekin hens, and all were in peek condition. Then all of a sudden 4 of them started loosing feathers around the neck and ears. Some suggested it was due to feather pecking from A. nother. But after taking advice from a vet it turns out they have a fungal disease, known commonly as white face. Apparently it stems from pecking at rotting vegetation. This rings true as I have recently been letting the hens free range over an old growers allotment which has been left to go derelict. I now have a treatment to add to their water, and a spray for the affected area. The vet reckons all will be well in a matter of weeks. Just wondered if any one else has heard of the disease. Please advise Regards T Dan

Duncan08
I havent heard of it, but am very interested. 2 of my 5 girls have very weak feathers and have lost feathers on their neck and tails which none of the others have. They have always had weak tails, but the neck feathers is because of the WIR and them straining through the wire for the "greener grass" - BUT, the other girls do the same and havent lost theirs. If you get any more information I would love to hear it as my vet isn't really very chickeny.
