kittyl
This is the beautiful Twinkle, a girl I think as her wing feathers are growing fast. I think she hatched from the egg I mended with pink nail varnish. This is sad little Giblet who is not quite right, he's learned to eat the chick crumb soup I give him, but he often needs reminding where it is. His sibling is now twice his size, I was hoping he would improve once he started eating but sadly I dont think he is.
mimi5
Hi there Kitty!!! Love your photos!!!! Go pink sparkly nail polish!! I do hope Twinkle is a girl for you!!! I have aslo read that boys develop wing and tail feathers slower than girls!! My first hatch bunch are approaching 3 weeks old now!!! They are outside with my mum in an ark with run. They are very flighty and this morning sparring with each other!!! They look like gangly teens!!!! My other broody hen has also hatched some bought eggs. Out of 6 only 3 hatched , but are cuties!! 2 I think are black mottled and the other looks to be a buff. The next big thing is .....how many girls and boys???!!!!! Will try and post some pics! The 2 black chicks we've called" pingu" and "pinga"
kittyl
we now think Giblet is blind, I put him in his food several times a day & he doesnt stop chattering, he sounds like a house martin, so long as his mum is close by. He's very sweet but what will become of him..we havent decided.

Griffin
Oh bless poor little Giblet. I hatched a Silkie chick with deformed feet. I made little shoes and tried really hard to straighten them but nothing worked. He (I have the remarkable ability to hatch 100% male Silkies every time!) had a strange way of walking but he could get around and seemed perfectly happy. I decided to keep him until he told me he couldn't cope anymore or he started crowing, whichever came first. He enjoyed a good few months of free ranging before it became obvious he wasn't happy and his feet were hurting. He was such a happy, friendly, cuddly little chap and he broke our hearts but he had a good life while it lasted. I'd do the same with Giblet, just take each day as it comes.
