hasnett Posted July 3, 2007 Share Posted July 3, 2007 Hi everyone, i need some advice. our 10 week old pekin bantams are sleeping in the nest in the egloo. Is this normal for chooks of this age ? When will they start using the roosting bars? Should i encourage them to use the roosting bars by putting a football in the nest? (as i have read somewhere on this forum). Jools Posted July 3, 2007 Share Posted July 3, 2007 They are too young to be perching yet - it damages the breastbone if they perch before about 16 weeks, so leave them in the nest box for now - or take the roosting bars out and block off the nest box.
