chris170284
evening all, just a quick question does anyone have any cambars thanks
Redwing
I havent heard of any on my poultry travels, I always thought they had died out. They are the autosexing version of the Campine though of which the silver version is the easiest to obtain so it may be worth looking for those rather than the Cambar, they are nice birds and reasonable layers The autosexing registrar keeps a list of registered autosexing breeders her email is in the public domain so I think I am safe in reproducing it here: kathleen.arnold@tiscali.co.uk
chris170284
thanks, yes it was the auto sexing registry page i saw them they are cracking looking things,it is sad the have been lost along the way, could they not be reintroduced by breeding the requeried pair (campine and barred plymouth)
Redwing
I dare say they could be but to get them accepted as the Cambar they need to breed true without the crossing - so several generations would be needed for them to be pure and reliably autosexing, the first cross is literally the first step
