merlina
Can anyone recommend a chicken-safe wood treatment for a wooden house? (it's just wood, treated with whatever it came with, so I'm looking for something to weather proof rather than paint) And do you know how long they would have to be out of it while it dries? (they have an eglu to go in while this happens - they started in an eglu, but moved to a bigger house) Assuming of course we get a dry day or three for such an activity to take place! Redwing
Most things are chicken safe once dry. Creosote substitute is good as it will help keep red mites at bay (not as good as real creosote but still quite good) it usually dries within the day, the fumes need a day or so to disperse though Shed/fence preserver (Cuprinol is a company that normally advertises their products as pet safe) has less fumes and less lingering smell but doesnt offer the mite repelling properties!
