Prolapse

Recommended Posts

Got home the other day to find that one of my ladies had a prolapse. Took her to the excellent local poultry specialist vet nearby who did the necessary stitching, steroid and antibiotic treatment and antibiotics to bring home. He has emailed me a report of the episode and recommended a liquid calcium supplement to try and help egg transit. My question is can anyone suggest a really good vitamin and mineral supplement, particularly one with a good calcium boost. I do give them a poultry drink, but wonder if I should be doing more?

Any help and advice would be most gratefully received and taken on board.

Thanks for reading my post.

I was having trouble with one of my bantams who was having problems laying an egg. The vet gave me some calcium tablets to give her - way too difficult!!!! So she managed to track down a calcium liquid which I add to the drinking water one day a week (10ml per pint of water). I phoned the company up and it reached me a couple of days later. It has done the trick so I can certainly recommend this product. (The vet worked out the dosage before I started treatment). The company I got it from is called Fur'n'Feathers 0141 237 9913 (Glasgow), £8.99 but with p+p it came to £14.98.

I hope this helps you - good luck. xx
