Stressful day

Recommended Posts

I am on my way to work, but can tell you now it's going to be a long and stressful day worrying about my girls. Think hubby thinks I'm mad!

Viv has had a limp for a while now. Took her to the vet last week and she was admitted as was puffed up and panting by the time we got there. Worried it was Mareks. She recovered overnight and had X-ray but no injury to leg. Vet said as she wasn't dragging foot, but placing had probably sprained and sent her home with metacam and baytril - that was Friday. She looked to be perking up a bit on Sunday but yesterday and today is hardly using the leg - just half flying half shuffling on her knees (?). It's her right leg, but now I've noticed her left eye is shut a lot of the time and I'm a bit worried her left leg was a bit pointing forwards when I left. :( Hoping she was just sitting funny, she is still cleaning herself and tucked into corn from hubby after I'd given her drugs.

However, to add to my stress coco, my black rock who has been bullet proof til now didn't come out the cube when I opened the door this morning. I chased her out eventually when I opened the roof to check but she just went down the ladder and stood instead of her normal trip to the food. After a bit she seemed to go back to normal but is now in the nest box all squished down. It is her normal egg time but she just doesn't look quite right. Nothing I can put finger on.

Hoping they are all ok.

Oh, I never thought of broodiness :wall: will watch her later and see if that makes sense..... Hopefuly as that's not so serious as my paranoid brain went to.... Promised she could have chicks if she went broody but might have to wait til next time with poorly viv and time of year.

Crossing fingers.

When I got home coco was a lot Perrier and keeping our troublesome youngster in place - there was a very soft egg in the nest box with a tail and a separate yolk. She hadn't laid anything this morning and hubby said she looked a bit sad at lunchtime but commented how much chirpier she was this evening so think that was it. Hopefully. Never had a softie from her so never crossed my mind, she's our wee clockwork layer.

Viv is still sorry for herself. Gave her some nutri-drops and a whole load of corn and she is still eating but refusing to use her leg. She can still grip my fingers with her foot but waited for me to carry her to bed tonight poor wee thing. Back at vets on Thursday night - just wish I knew what was causing. :(
